This recipe is dedicated to a very interesting dish, which is a symbol of the great Christian holiday of the Nativity of Christ. Everyone already, right, guessed that we'll talk about Christmas cupcake. Undoubtedly, traditions are what our ancestors honor and inherit from time immemorial, and the custom of making symbolic dough products has also been inherent in us since ancient times. Most likely, the roots of this sacrament stretch back to the era of the life of Jesus himself, because it was during a meal with his disciples that he broke bread and, holding out a piece to each, said: β€œEat: this is my body!” So the sacrament of the Eucharist and the very bread that crowns this Orthodox tradition is by no means the only one in Christianity.

There is also prosphora - white bread, which is baked with yeast with the addition of holy water and is consumed on an empty stomach after confession. The second type of sacred bread is artos. Sourdough bread, which is consecrated on Easter night, is, in fact, the familiar Easter cake, but unlike the latter, this is exactly the bread that, after the all-night vigil, is distributed to all believers in the temple. Here is the recipe for a Christmas cake, although less sacred, but still no less important for each of us, because we are glad that the Son of God was born and, according to tradition, we glorify this great happiness with bread.

It is also interesting that different nations have different recipes for these same cupcakes. This is how the Germans bake a Christmas cupcake adit for the holiday, and its peculiarity is that this cupcake is prepared long before Christmas, at least three weeks in advance. It is believed that before the meal, the cake should be well infused, which makes it much tastier. And there is an English Christmas cake, the recipe of which is also not simple and is no less lengthy than in the case of adit. However, this cake, like the German one, is also perfectly stored and makes it possible to give the holiday a unique unforgettable taste and aroma. Our today's recipe is something very similar to the two already described, with the only difference that it is much easier to prepare, but no less tasty, fragrant and long-awaited by everyone. In the review, we will also touch on some historical facts and the benefits of this sacred dish.

First, let's look at the history of the dish.

Christmas cake is a special pastry made from a large amount of dried fruit with the addition of crushed nuts. Another obligatory ingredient of such a cake is an alcoholic drink, and it can be either whiskey or cognac or bourbon - its main task is to qualitatively set off the aroma of the cake and, as you understand, the taste will depend directly on the quality of this very alcohol. The difference between our recipe and the traditional manner of preparing a Christmas cake with dried fruits is only in the aging time before serving.

We want to offer you a recipe that is no less successful, but our Christmas fruit cake does not need additional aging, it can be eaten right away. The only thing that we still, if possible, recommend doing in advance is soaking dried fruits in cognac or whiskey, because the overall aroma of the festive dish will depend on how long you marinate them. But if this is not possible, do not despair, just pour them for a few hours so that they are better saturated, and before that, pour boiling water over them. In general, if we talk about church traditions, then we are no match for Western Europe in this, because our faith was successfully masked by atheism for a long time, and therefore several generations simply lost the understanding and feeling of faith in their souls. We must revive traditions and cooking will help us a lot in this.

    Benefit

But before we talk about the Christmas cupcake and its recipe with a photo, we turn to the benefits of the dish. Of course, it is not necessary to talk about high health benefits in this case, because we are dealing with baking and not just any, but with the addition of butter. Of course, this dish is not dietary and certainly not low-calorie, but its main benefit is that it can cheer you up and give wonderful emotions, and this is not enough. In addition, this pie contains a lot of dried fruits and this should be clearly visible to you on the cut.

Dried fruits are the same plums, apricots, cherries and other berries and fruits familiar to us, but only with a residual moisture content of not more than 20%. It is also interesting that at the same time there are much more biologically active substances in such products than in their fresh relatives. Another beauty of such sweets is a unique set of minerals and very fast and easy digestibility, as well as the complete absence of fats. In combination with, frankly, not a lean test, this fact is very pleasant. In addition to dried fruits, a Christmas cake should also be with candied fruits, and this, in addition to glucose, is also a lot of vitamins, trace elements, as well as fiber, which is important and necessary for the normal digestion of food. Especially useful are candied fruits from citrus fruits, as well as apricots and cherries. Do not underestimate the role of nuts, which are also an integral part of our holiday cake.

We will not dwell on the benefits of each individual species, because you can choose the one that is most loved and valuable to you, however, we recall that nuts are the richest product in terms of mineral composition, and this is worth a lot. As a result, by combining all these products in one dish, we can enjoy the wonderful taste of an incomparable pie, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a German Christmas cake or its English counterpart, and get a lot of benefits. Let's not delay, and start preparing an English Christmas cake, with a slight amendment to the recipe. This will be the so-called accelerated version.

That's the whole recipe for a festive cupcake, which, for sure, will appeal to all members of your family. We hope that preparing it for you will not be a problem, partly thanks to our detailed recipe. If your arsenal has no less interesting culinary specimens, we are happy to wait for recipes.
