Cooking shortcrust pastry cherry pie. And a special bonus is that it is also very easy to cook. Everyone is used to the fact that the pie is a lot of worries and headaches: grate butter, knead the dough, then cool it down and other difficulties. So rejoice! Our shortbread cherry pie recipe is so easy to prepare that it is a perfect definition of "dummies pie". Another name that will surely say a lot about our today's hero is “grated pie”. True, this option is much more familiar to you? But before we move on to cooking, let's talk a little about history.
This pie is made from frozen shortcrust pastry with a filling. A feature of such a cake is a layer that is formed from crumbs of frozen shortbread dough. There is a version that such a pie originates from the German Streusel pie, but just not from yeast dough. This cake always contains flour, butter, sugar and an egg. According to tradition, the base of the pie is formed from a whole piece of dough, on which the filling of berries, fruits or jam is placed, and only then the frozen grated dough is poured. And after we will bake our shortbread cherry pie in the oven. Very tasty and insanely fragrant, it deserves the highest praise and very soon you will be able to see for yourself.
For filling:
We will prepare the products necessary for the cake
Sift the flour into a bowl and mix with salt and baking powder
Cut the butter into pieces and mix with flour
At this stage, you also need to add sugar
Flour and butter must be ground into crumbs along with sugar
Break the egg into dough
We knead soft dough from all products
For the base, we will send 2/3 of the dough to the refrigerator, and put the remaining third in the freezer
By hand from chilled dough, most of it, form the base for our high-sided pie
Decorate the side with a fork on the top
We send peeled cherries to the base of the grated pie and sprinkle them with starch
Sprinkle the berries with granulated sugar
Rub the frozen dough on a coarse grater
