    • 10 grams of dry yeast
    • a teaspoon of salt
    • 2 tablespoons of sugar
    • an egg
    • 8 oz. of milk
    • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 500 grams of flour (may need a bit more)

    • an onion

    Easy Russian ‘’Pirozhki'' cabbage pies recipe

    1. Firstly, let’s make a cabbage pies dough. Break an egg into the deep bowl and add some salt and sugar in.

      To make a dough, whip the egg with sugar and salt in the bowl.

    2. Then pour the previously heated milk (it must be worm, hot!) and add the dry yeast.

      Now add the warm milk and dry yeast.

    3. Mix the contents of the bowl.

      Mix everything in the bowl.

    4. Then pour the vegetable oil into the bowl, we have the sunflower one, for example.

      Add some oil to the dough.

    5. Now it’s time to add the flour. To start, pour 400 grams of it, then start kneading the dough the remaining 100 grams until it does not stick to your hands. This amount of flour usually suffice but mind that there different kinds of flour.

      Add the flour, start with 400 grams then add 100 more if needed. Keep adding the flour until it stops sticking to your hands.

    6. Form the ball from the dough.

      Knead the flour boring the sphere.

    7. Place the dough into the pan and cover it with a lid.

    8. Put the pan into the plastic bag and wrap it in the towel. Place everything into the preheat oven for 25 minutes at 360F. But before you place it into the oven, you’d better turn it off.

    9. Now it’s time ti make filling. Cut the onion finely, then fry it on the vegetable oil.

      Add the cabbage, then fry everything for 15 minutes. You may add some salt and pepper if you like.
