In this review, we are pleased to present to your attention an excellent appetizer - we prepare envelopes from pita bread with cheese. In fact, there are many variations on these delicious treats, and they make a great snack or even a full breakfast. You can make envelopes from pita bread with cheese in a pan, or you can grill it. Lavash envelopes can be just with cheese, or they can be with sausage or boiled pork. It all depends on the taste preferences of those who prepare them. And about the recipe itself a little lower, but for now a few words about the invention and history of this wonderful snack.

    History of the dish

The handbook of the world-famous Oxford University calls lavash an antique dish, which was first prepared in the Caucasus region. However, there are also sources that define lavash as an Armenian dish. In English-language sources, even the name lavash sounds like "Armenian brittle bread" or "Armenian flatbread". There is also the name "paraki". It is believed that the great-grandfathers of lavash are rough cakes that the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians baked on stones from cereal porridge. By the way, in the Transcaucasus the recipe has not changed too much today.

The lavash itself is a flat cake with a thickness of no more than 2-5 mm, which has an oval shape. The length of lavash is usually about 1 m, and the width is about 50 cm. It is baked in a tandoor - a special oven made of wheat dough without adding yeast. Ready lavash is left to cool completely, and then stacked in piles of 10 pieces and stored in this state. It is in such pita bread that you can then wrap any fillings, for example, make envelopes from pita bread with cheese and sausage or envelopes from pita bread with cheese and egg. Such snacks are usually fried in a pan, in the oven or on the grill. They also bake cakes from lavash and make excellent pies. But more about that another time, but today the recipe for pita envelopes with ham and cheese is classic and very simple.

    The benefits of the dish

This is not the healthiest snack in the world. But it is difficult to call it harmful either. If you want to saddle the envelopes more dietary, we recommend using the grill and not frying them in vegetable oil. Otherwise, such an appetizer is just the pinnacle of taste and pleasure. I recommend to everyone. Do you know interesting recipes? If yes, we look forward to it and will be happy to tell you about them from the pages of our site! Your friend and advisor HozOboz!
