Here we are together again. Today we will try to bake homemade gingerbread cookies together. This indispensable attribute of any New Year's party, however, not everyone knows how to cook. And even when buying gingerbread, we do not always understand exactly what recipe they were prepared for, and all because they are always different. There are soft gingerbread cookies, there are crispy and hard ones, there are very light ones, and on the contrary, they are very brown. And, of course, the main difference: gingerbread without pictures and with icing, and we have prepared just such a recipe for you. But about the process itself later, but for now a little history.

    History of the dish

Gingerbread, as the name probably implies, is ginger-flavoured gingerbread. Its main ingredients are honey, dried ginger and molasses - these are the products that give the dessert such a unique taste and aroma. Hence, including the type and quality of these products, the taste characteristics of the gingerbread itself depend from moist and soft to dried and crispy. We find the first mention of this dessert back in 992, it was then that gingerbread appeared in Europe thanks to the monk Gregory, who, they say, brought them from his homeland. In France, where he lived for about 7 years, everyone and sundry learned the art of baking gingerbread at home and not only in conditions.

After the death of the monk himself, the journey of gingerbread through Europe did not end, and from France around the 13th century they ended up in Switzerland and began to spread surprisingly quickly. Already in the 15th century, the resourceful Germans even created a guild of gingerbread masters, and since then the sale of gingerbread all over the world has been unstoppable. But after all, everyone wanted to cook such deliciousness at home. And then the recipe for gingerbread began to appear in homemade cookbooks, which continues to this day with success. In Eastern Europe, such sweets are only gaining momentum in popularity to this day, which means that our recipe will be perfect for the topic. So let's get started.
