    The history of coconut fruit

The coconut pie recipe with pictures attached which is provided for you by HozOboz, derives from the German traditional cuisine. Its original name wasnbuttermilchschnitten and, basically, it’s the name of any pie made of buttermilk or milk kefir which we’ll be using in our recipe. The surprise is that coconut is actually not an essential ingredient here. Moreover, nobody knows when it was cooked for the first time in history.

Anyway, it couldn't happened before the coco-tree fruits were imported in Europe. And the baking powder didn't exist at the time. But HozOboz actually thinks that the time and origin of such a pie is not of the greatest importance here, because the truth is it’s just a great dish. HozOboz realizes that it’s hard to estimate the pie from the pictures yet, but believe us, even the brightest and prettiest photos can’t give you even the slightest idea of the fantastic taste and smell of this yummy pie.

The list of necessary ingredients to prepare a coconut pie

    • An egg
    • A glass of milk kefir
    • 1 and a half glass of flour
    • 10 grams of baking powder
    • A glass of sugar
    • 200 grams of cream
    • 5 grams of butter

The way you should prepare your coconut pie

    1. Break an egg and pour it to the milk kefir (another option is to use clabber instead of kefir, it also goes very well here) . Mix it thoroughly or whip it up with a fork.

Whip an egg and kefir up.

    2. Add flour to your mixture of eggs and milk kefir. Mix it well again.

Add flour and whip it once more.

    3. Now, add the baking powder. Usually, a sachet contains 10 grams of it which is rather convenient for us. It happens, however, that some sachets have 11 grams, but please don't hesitate to use it all.

      Add the baking powder now.

    4. Then add 1/2 glass of sugar but leave the rest to use it later.

Add 1/2 glass of sugar powder.

    5. Whip all the contents thoroughly so that you got the homogenous dough.

Once more, whip everything so that it become homogeneous.

    6. Mix the leftovers of sugar (1/2 glass) with coconut flakes.

      Combine coconut flakes with sugar.

    7. Grease the baking dish (you can use a dish of any form, not necessarily round one like we do) with butter and pour the flour into it, then scatter the mix of sugar and coconut flakes evenly on the surface.

Pour dough into the greased baking dish and scatter milk and coconut over it.

    8. Now it’s time to put your pie into the oven for 25-30 minutes. Set the temperature for 350F. Anyway, you should watch it some time since there is great difference between various types of ovens. Take the baked pie out of the oven and evenly poor the cream onto it right after. You may have 10% fat cream or any other up to 20%. Soon you'll be able to feel the incredible taste of your coconut pie.

Bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, 350F. Then take it out and pour cream onto it while it’s hot. Choose the fat percentage of the cream as you like.

    9. That’s how this yummy coconut pie looks like when it’s ready to be served. Yummy, isn't it?

This is how the pie should look like.

    10. It’s preferable to cool it a bit before cutting the pie.

You can cut in only when it cooled a bit, like, in 20 minutes.

    11. Finally, the pie with coconut flakes is ready to be served. Goes great with milk. Actually, both tea and coffee are the way to go. Bon Appetite!

Serve its tea or coffee, children will definitely love it with milk.
