In Germany, everyone adores the famous Eintopf, which, in addition to the peas themselves, also contains meat products. No less popular is Berlin style pea soup, which is cooked only from yellow peas with the addition of potatoes and salted pork ears.

    In Holland, one of the variations of pea soup is called snert and is prepared in the form of a thick stew only from green peas and always with pork and potatoes. They also love pea soup in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and in the countries of Eastern Europe, which cookbooks speak eloquently about. That is why we considered it our duty to tell you how to cook it correctly and here you need to remember a few subtleties:

    • It is always better to soak dried peas in advance - 2-3 hours;
    • Meat for the soup should be chosen not ice cream and it is advisable to add to such a soup at least a couple of pieces of smoked meats - they will add a special piquancy;
    • It is also better to use potatoes not young, but the one that is already full of starch - so the soup will be more rich.

    Now you know everything and you can proceed to the recipe, which we will do about now


    • Split peas - 150 g
    • Chicken breast - 250 g
    • Potatoes - 3-4 pcs.
    • Bulb onion - 1 pc.
    • Carrots - 1 pc.
    • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
    • Salt - 1/2 tsp
    • Fresh parsley - 2-3 sprigs


    1. Let's prepare the products. Peel onions, carrots, potatoes, wash.

      First of all, we will prepare the necessary products: we will wash everything and clean it if necessary

    2. Put the peas to boil.

      Peas should be placed in a pot of water and sent to boil

    3. Cut the potatoes into cubes.

      In the meantime, chop the potatoes into cubes

    4. After 30 minutes from the moment the liquid boils in a saucepan, add the potatoes.

      When the peas boil for about 30 minutes, add potatoes to it.

    5. Cut the chicken into cubes.

    6. Add to the pot next to the potatoes.

    10. Add finely chopped parsley, salt and after 10 minutes remove the soup from the stove.

      At the end of cooking, add chopped parsley and salt, and then boil for another 10 minutes and remove from heat.

    11. Pour on plates and serve.
