It's never too late to make your snacks healthy, and for this you certainly need to make them tasty too. So home-cooked candied carrots are just that case. But about the details later, but for now, according to tradition, a little history.

    History of the dish

    In the classic version, candied fruits are sliced ​​berries, fruits or, like ours, vegetables that are boiled in syrup in short intervals, but for a long time. After cooking, it is customary to dry them without fail. All candied fruits are conditionally divided into: candied fruits and candied fruits from vegetables. As you probably guessed, any candied carrots and all their recipes should undoubtedly be attributed to the second group.

    They are mainly prepared in order to be added later to the dough or used as a decoration for confectionery and not only. So, for example, a recipe for homemade candied carrots will help to perfectly decorate any main dish or salad. Moreover, in addition to the aesthetic function, candied fruits also perfectly emphasize the taste of any dish due to their exquisite sweetness or even spice. Did we intrigue you?     Ingredients:

    • Carrot - 500 g
    • Sugar - 500 g
    • Water - 250 ml
    • Star anise (stars) - 3 pcs.
    • Carnation - 4-5 pcs.

    Cooking:

    1. Take the ingredients for cooking. Peel the carrots.

      Let's prepare the necessary products.

    2. Cut carrots into slices about 0.7 cm thick (no less). Pieces of carrots should not be thin, as they shrink noticeably during the drying process.

      Cut the peeled carrots into circles about 0.7 cm thick.

    3. Pour sugar into a saucepan and pour in water, put on medium heat.

      Mix sugar and water in a saucepan and place it on the fire.

    4. Wait until the syrup boils and becomes transparent, that is, the sugar is completely dissolved, throw in star anise and cloves.

      As soon as the syrup boils and the sugar dissolves, add star anise and cloves.

    5. Next, throw in the circles of carrots and wait until the syrup boils again, stirring with a wooden spoon, cook in the syrup for 10 minutes.

      It's time to add carrots, bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes.

    6. Then put the carrot circles on a sieve and drain the syrup into a separate container - it can be used in baking. Spread the circles on a baking sheet, previously covering it with parchment for baking. I dried in the oven for 6 hours at a temperature of 100 degrees with a bottom heat, inserting an iron spoon between the door and the stove, making a gap for air access.

      Candied carrots should be dried in the oven in the lower heating mode for at least 6 hours at a temperature of about 100 degrees. Put something in the oven door so that it does not close tightly.

    7. Ready candied carrots, it remains only to roll in a mixture of powdered sugar and starch and serve with tea.

      When ready, such candied fruits, the recipe of which we offered you with a photo, can be dusted with powdered sugar and starch and used as needed: at least for tea, at least for decoration.

If we talk specifically about our recipe, then there will probably be less benefit in it than if we dried candied carrots in a dryer.
